Watercolour Painting by James Hollis
Approx. A1 76cm x 56cm (The price includes postage and secure roll packaging.)
A keen interest in drawing wildlife and landscape led me to study a degree (BA) hons in Landscape Architecture at the University of Greenwich and to also gain a diploma in Landscape Architecture, from the University of Essex. Having worked successfully as a Landscape Architect for a number of years, many of my award winning landscape designs have been built.
A continued passion for drawing and painting has developed, and a love for the medium of watercolour began, whilst I continued working as a Landscape Architect.
I have sold many pieces located in private collections around the world. Work has also been exhibited in galleries, the famous Greenwich Market and has been featured as a two time finalist in the BBC wildlife artist competition 2011 & 2013. "Paintings captivate with dynamic, fresh bold brushstrokes combined with atmospheric washes imbued with changing hues. The expressive interplay with these techniques creates mysterious paintings capturing light and the essence of the subject matter."
My current collection of paintings focuses on British Wildlife, specifically brown hares, following a visit to Orford Ness in Suffolk an island of the coast populated with hares that has no natural predators I was inspired to create a series of simply composed watercolour paintings, that capture the spirit of this enigmatic creature.
